MS Got Gas Eat Yogurt

MS Got Gas Eat Yogurt

This is more a diet blog than an MS blog. But we all share this inconvenient embarrassing biology at times.

Unfortunately, as we age our digestive system, like the rest of everything in our bodies, starts to lose its ability to function the same way it did when we were younger. And one of those things that we experience is that our digestive system can’t fully digest what we have eaten causing the build up of gas in our intestines which eventually finds a pathway out.

There are medications like simethicone that can relieve and reduce this flatulence, but they are not recommended for use on a sustained basis. And like all medications they come with the potential of having side effects.

However, there are more natural things we can eat that can support our digestive health. I take a probiotic every morning before breakfast to give a boost to my digestive system. And you can also get prebiotics that help probiotics become more effective. But I’ve found that there is a cheaper alternative to the constant use of both of these.

Along with my morning probiotic I also eat one cup of yogurt either in the afternoon or evening, or both, along with a meal. This does work amazingly well for me. I would say it reduces my gas production by almost three quarters. And I like the fact that this is a natural and not a chemical solution!
